Fall design trends to get excited about

Summer may have just made its way into our lives, but fall will be here before you know it. With this change in season comes an opportunity to redecorate or design your living space, allowing it to flow naturally with the atmosphere.

Get your home nice and cozy just in time for the fallen leaves, crisp temperatures and pumpkin picking. Here are a few few fall design trends to get excited about:

1. Chic plaid
Chunky plaid is making a comeback, adding chic flair to any room as a statement fabric. From the window treatments to a set of throw pillows or fabric napkins in the kitchen, plaid is versatile and trendy.

2. Textiles and earthy elements
2019 is the year of sustainable design and decor; using vintage, recycled pieces throughout the house makes a bold and stylish statement. More homeowners will incorporate handmade pieces throughout the home to emphasize the environment in all of its glory, according to Decorating Den Interiors franchise owner and designer, Shelley Rodner.

“Textiles such as rice paper, grass cloth, linen, live edge wood furniture and clay. These ‘grounding’ elements in our homes help us to connect with the earth and it’s natural beauty,” Rodner said. “One of my favorite ways to accomplish this is by introducing grass cloth into a space. It instantly adds texture, warmth and richness to a room.”

Live edge furnishings gained popularity this year as well, as Rodner described this to be one that will gain most popularity.

“Whether it’s a sculpture, table or anything else that incorporates this element, many suppliers seem to be coming up with new concepts every day,” she said.

Incorporate more natural edge furniture from the living room to your home office to showcase how Mother Nature can work her magic indoors too.

3. Matte finish
A mixture of textures throughout the home is an important element to interior design. One you need to pay close attention to this fall is matte. Dark, smooth finishes in kitchen and bathroom appliances and hardware adds a touch of sophistication to any living space with minimal effort.

4. Beige and peach
If a new color scheme is the main factor that’s on your mind, fall is the perfect time to mix neutral with a soft, yet bold hue you would never think to incorporate in your home. We expect beige to overpass gray as the top neutral of the season, but peach is also a shade that’s going to make a huge statement this fall. Consider it the cousin of blush, a pink shade that had gained a lot of popularity in the recent past. Peach is the perfect color to consider for a statement wall, for the master room bedding or the delicate accessories in the guest bathroom.

Interior redesign can be complex; it’s more than placing a few new throw pillows on your sofa.
