Decorating Den Interiors announces Decorator of the Year and other design awards

Easton, Md. — Linda McCall of Zephyr Cove, Nev. was recently named Decorator of the Year, the highest design award presented byDecorating Den Interiors, North America’s largest interior design and home furnishings franchise company.

Her dramatically designed family room was selected as the best of more nearly 300 entries in 12 categories judged by international and regional design journalists in the company’s 29th International Dream Room awards competition.

McCall, who owns the Decorating Den Interiors franchise serving northern Nevada, was presented her award at the company’s 44th annual conference and supplier market held recently in Memphis, Tenn. She also will be honored in New York City at a dinner with renown interior designer Mario Buatta.

The company’s Dream Room Awards competition results in three top design awards and two runners-up for each.

Decorator of the Year Runners-Up

First Runner-Up was Deborah Bettcher, of Wayne, Pa., who won first place in Outdoor Category.

Second Runner-Up was Donna Smith, of East Walpole, Mass., who won first place in the Bedroom Category.

Donayre Award

Kathie Golson, of Orlando, Fla. and her decorator Adriana Seranno, won the Donayre Award, which is voted on by company franchisees and decorators and is named for Carol Donayre Bugg, ASID, company vice president and director of design. Golson and Seranno’s makeover was in the bedroom category.

First Runner-Up was Nola Shivers, of Nixa, Mo., and her decorator Heather Landolt, whose room was also in the bedroom category.

Second Runner-Up was Lisa Landry, of Arlington, Tex., selected for her dining room entry.

People’s Choice Award

Golson and Serano also won the People’s Choice Award, an online judging open to the public in which more than 25,000 votes were cast among nearly 300 entries. There winning entry was the bedroom that earned them the Donayre Award.

First Runner-Up was McCall.

Second Runner-Up was Megan Smith, designer with the Landry franchise.
