Interior Design Contest Invites Public to Judge

Easton, Md.—Those who enjoy looking through interior design magazines and websites for home decorating inspirations have a unique opportunity to judge an online International Dream Room contest sponsored by Decorating Den Interiors, the largest interior design and home furnishings franchise company in North America.

The voting site will be open from April 4 – 24. There are nearly 300 sets of before and after photos. The categories are: Bathrooms, bedrooms, children’s rooms, commercial, dining rooms, family rooms, home offices, kitchens, living rooms, window treatments, outdoor spaces and miscellaneous. Visitors to the site can vote in any or all of the categories.

“These are real rooms for real people with real budgets,” says Carol Bugg, ASID, DDCD, vice president and director of design for Decorating Den Interiors. “For 28 years, this contest has been judged only by journalists of national interior design and home magazines. This is the second year we have added a voting period for others who would like to see the vast variety of designs by our award winning decorators throughout the U.S. and Canada and vote for their favorite. There is no cost to view the designs and judge.”

“Over the years, many of the entries in our Dream Room contest have been featured in national and regional magazines. Our online votingattracted thousands last year, giving even more people inspiration for adding those beautiful touches that make their house a home. We hope even more will participate this year,” Bugg adds.

By judging, visitors to the voting site will be participating in the selection of a Peoples’ Choice Award, which will be presented at Decorating Den Interiors international conference and market to be held in Memphis, May 7-11.

Decorating Den Interiors has been holding this contest for its more than 325 owners and designers in order to select its annual Decorator of Year and other interior design awards.

Carol Donayre Bugg, ASID, DDCD, author of five books on decorating, serves as vice president and director of design. Her latest book is “Decorating…the Professional Touch,” Each interior decorator has access to thousands of samples of designer window treatments; wall and floor coverings; furniture, lighting and accessories; all brought directly to each client’s home or office Their work is regularly featured in interior decorating magazines, journals and books.
