Mario Buatta Honors Sarah Hermans

Renown Designer Mario Buatta Honors Decorator

Sarah Hermans, owner of Decorating Den Interiors of Paoli, was recently honored in New York City by Mario Buatta, one of the world’s best known interior designers.

Buatta joined Hermans at a dinner at the famous Four Seasons Restaurant to celebrate Hermans having been named Decorator of the Year for 2011. Decorating Den Interiors chairman James S. Bugg, Sr. and his wife Carol Donayre Bugg, vice president of design, hosted Hermans and her husband Eric at the dinner, along with Bill and Mary Borkovitz, Decorating Den Interiors regional managers for eastern Pennsylvania.

“It was a thrill to meet Mario,” said Hermans. “He has inspired interior designers all over the world.” Buatta was selected by Architectural Digestand Metropolitan Home magazines as one of the Design 100 and by Town and Country magazine as one of the Top 12 designers in America. “Sarah is very deserving of the award,” said Buatta. “Decorating Den designers do top work, and hers stood out.”

Hermans was chosen Decorator of the Year as part of the company’s International Dream Room contest in which room makeovers are judged by national journalists who write about interior design. Hermans was cited for her dramatic living room entry, which received the highest number of votes out of more than 250 contest entries. “My client’s vision for their living room was simple. She wanted a room of her own, and she wanted it to be grown up, warm, sophisticated and classic. As a homemaker who takes care of everyone else, this was her first chance to have her design tastes and preferences to come to life,” she explains.

She serves clients in the Main Line area, Paoli, Malvern and West Chester.
