For sisters Barbara Elliot (left above) and Jennifer Ward-Woods, Decorating Den Interiors turned out to be the perfect way to have a business together. They even brand their Atlanta, Ga. franchise as The Sisters and Company.

They’ve been highlighted as the top franchise with sales for three years — showcasing just how well they work together while creating beautiful spaces at every turn. They’ve been Designer of the Year twice.

How The Sisters Got Their Start

Barbara and Jennifer grew up tight-knit. While they both have always had a love for design, they didn’t start working together immediately.

Jennifer used to do design work out of her home on her own. She discovered Decorating Den Interiors when she stumbled upon a commercial and became intrigued instantly. After meeting the owner and even becoming her decorator, Barbara grew interested in what her sister was doing. Barbara then bought a franchise in Atlanta, and the rest is history.

As business boomed, they added more team members, helping them continue their work on a larger scale. “The opportunity to work with women who look like me and have that same entrepreneurial mindset and business-oriented structure is awesome,” said Ariel Chen, Design Assistant at The Sisters and Company.

Decorating Runs in the Family

While The Sisters and Company mainly consists of Jennifer and Barbara, they have a full team of design experts who help them bring their clients’ visions to life. One of those team members is Hope Christine, Media Manager and Barbara’s Daughter.

“It is my family,” said Hope. “But growing our family with other designers and people who work in the office has been truly amazing.”

And Hope isn’t alone in feeling grateful for the work culture that Barbara and Jennifer have created, enabling everyone to feel creative and connected in all initiatives.

“It’s very much a sisterhood and family environment,” said Ariel. “And we’ve accomplished so much together.”

This type of family-focused and loving atmosphere enables everyone to do what they do best: make their clients’ homes a breathtaking space that they can enjoy for years to come.

Making Their Clients’ Dreams Come True

“When you work with a Decorating Den Interiors designer, clients gain a wealth of knowledge and decorating skills necessary to complete the job on time, on budget and exactly how you envision,” said Barbara. “And they won’t tell you what you want — they’ll let you decide that for yourself, guiding you each step of the way.”

“When working with a client, we are detectives,” she added. “We try to go in and learn as much as we possibly can about them.”

“We take our projects very personally,” said Jennifer. “Your home is like our home.”

After learning what a client desires and coming up with an action plan, the sisters’ team make magic happen, coordinating all efforts so the client doesn’t have to lift a finger.

“It’s a lot of work, but when you get to the reveal part, it is worth every penny, every second, every moment,” said Hope.

“It’s so rewarding to see the enjoyment and excitement on their faces when we’re able to take their home and make it into such a beautiful space that they didn’t even imagine they could have,” said Jennifer.
